Client Prep Instructions
MAKE SURE the day you get sprayed is a day that you can do nothing the rest of the day. Avoid sweating, dishes, bathing your dog, bathing your kids.. haha… anything to get wet!!
Make sure to schedule your spray tan appointment after all other beauty services. (Manicures, pedicures, waxing, massage)
Shave & Exfoliate 24-48 hours prior to appointment. 2 days of light exfoliation, rather than just 1 day. Concentrate on dry areas of the body such as elbows, knees & feet.
Spray Tans stick to dead skin cells… that’s right! So we need some there to make your solution sticks.
No shower within 8 hours prior to appointment and DO NOT USE DOVE SOAP (it leaves a film).
No lotion, oils, perfume, makeup or deodorant 8 hours prior to appointment. Deodorant & makeup can be wiped off with a wipe 3 hours prior to appointment if you have work, etc!
No prior spray tan residue or self tanning residue on the skin.
Attire: Wear dark loose fitting clothes (No leggings!) No jeans or tennis shoes.
If you currently have a sunburn, please let yourself heal first; because if you peel, your spray tan is useless.
If you have a nut allergy, please alert us ahead of time as some of our solutions do contain nut extracts.
TIP: If you have leather seats in your car and are wearing shorts to your appointment (although we prefer you wear loose fitting pants), please bring a towel to sit on while in the car. The leather will lift the bronzer off the skin.
Bronzers are a guide color and after being washed off, the DHA kicks in for True tanning color.
Client Post Instructions
It’s time to CHILL for a full 8 hours.
Leave solution for agreed upon time 8 HRS. Ok to sleep in regular solution.
Try to sleep in loose long pants and long sleeves if possible.
BE AWARE not to touch palms to other body parts, it can turn palms orange.
No exercise or sweating for 24 hours.
First shower will be water only, soap is ok in personal areas.
Lukewarm water. No scrubbing, just use hand to buff out bronzer.
Lotion is ok after first rinse.
Soap shower in 24 hours from spray tan appointment.
Favorite OTC products: Hempz, Aveeno, Shea Moisture
Avoid exfoliating products, loofas, excessive hot water and oil based products for the duration of the spray tan.
Moisturize 2x a day if possible, we want to keep the skin hydrated so there is no harsh fading.
HOW LONG WILL MY SPRAY TAN LAST?
This depends on several factors including your skin type, physical activity and aftercare. Your tan should last minimum of a week, and has the potential to last as long as 10 days. To increase the longevity of your tan, we highly recommend using a daily moisturizer.
DO I NEED TO WORRY ABOUT ORANGE TONES OR STREAKS FROM MY TAN?
Please go by the therapist’s recommended solution. Most clients try to go to dark to fast, all the factors that bring orange is from clients who want matte dark and sometimes your skin just can’t handle that amount of DHA, start slow then go up. DHA percentages are based on the tone your skin naturally is, not what you want it to be.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO MY APPOINTMENT?
It’s best to wear dark loose fitting clothing to your appointment. There is a cosmetic bronzer in the solution and it can rub off on clothing. It washes out of most materials, but it’s better to be on the safe side.
HOW LONG BEFORE I CAN WEAR WHITE?
We recommend showering 3 times before putting on anything white colored, especially if you’re planning on sweating or being in the water (ie white swim suit). If you do have some color that transfers onto white clothing, it’s easily removed in the wash.
WHAT DO I WEAR DURING MY TREATMENT?
Women please feel free to wear whatever your comfortable in during your appointment (as little as you please); you may wear underwear, a disposable thong or go nude. Just keep unwanted tan lines in mind. (We have disposable thongs as well). Men, we ask that you wear boxers, briefs or swim trunks during your appointment.
IS SPRAY TAN SAFE TO USE DURING PREGNANCY?
First, congrats on your pregnancy! Spray solution is FDA safe for moms-to-be, however we always recommend checking with your doctor.
BRIDES
Please call us for a trial spray to make sure you are happy with color.
Then we will schedule you two days before your wedding. BRIDES are BUSY! So make sure you have time to CHILL after the spray tan or schedule a spray later in the day so you can go to sleep in it. Don’t run errands and get hot and sweaty or have the potential to get WET!
